LapTrax - Live Timing and Scoring

What is LapTrax?

LapTrax is a web-based application that delivers live timing and scoring data to interested internet visitors.  On web sites where the application is installed, fans from all over the globe have access to detailed lap-by-lap information from their favorite drivers and teams. The data is collected directly from the official timing and scoring system at the event – the same date that feeds the scoring monitors at the track.

When Should I Use LapTrax?

Anytime you visit a site where LapTrax is installed, and a race is in progress. If that race also happens to be broadcast on television, load LapTrax on the computer and get the same information as your favorite team does in their pit box. If your favorite driver isn’t running up front, you can keep tabs on his lap speeds and see how he’s running against the race leader. Or, if your favorite race isn’t on the television – like the early morning hours of the Rolex 24 of Daytona when the TV networks are sleeping – then log onto Grand-Am.com (or the site where LapTrax is running) and you won't miss a lap.

If you do miss out on a practice session, qualification run or wheel-to-wheel shootout, LapTrax automatically archives all its data on the site for viewers to download.

What’s the Future for LapTrax?

The sky is the limit. While the first version of the software is already in use (the first production event was the 2008 Rolex 24 at Daytona), RACERSITES.COM developers are laying out a roadmap for the next generation of software. Soon users will be able to enhance their experience with more in-depth commentary, the ability to filter the times and speeds of their favorite drivers, or by their preferred series.

And while, currently, LapTrax is only featured on Grand-Am.com, the same timing and scoring technology will soon be available on your favorite driver or team site.
